It is well suited to people working, or aspiring to work, in positions such as Cyber Security Technician, Junior SOC Analyst, Information Security Assistant, or IT Security Technician, where they support the protection of systems, networks, and data. The programme provides the foundational knowledge and practical experience needed to monitor threats, follow security procedures, and contribute to maintaining an organisation’s overall security posture.What You’ll Learn
On the Level 3 Cyber Security Technician apprenticeship, you will gain the practical knowledge and skills required to help safeguard organisations against cyber threats. Through monthly instructor-led masterclasses, you will study key areas such as cyber defence practices, the evolving threat landscape, and security monitoring. In addition, monthly one-to-one coaching sessions will support you in applying your learning to real-world scenarios and operational systems. Throughout the programme, you will develop a professional portfolio with structured evidence gathering and complete work-based projects designed to improve security practices within your organisation.
During the apprenticeship, you will build hands-on experience in areas such as threat monitoring, log analysis, and alert management, alongside vulnerability scanning, remediation activities, and secure system configuration. You will learn the core principles of network and system security, examine different forms of malware and common attack techniques, and understand practical approaches to reducing risk. The programme also introduces Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and the fundamentals of incident response, enabling you to strengthen cyber defence capabilities, support organisational security resilience, and develop the confidence to identify, investigate, and escalate potential cyber threats.
Learner Journey
